Redefining "accommodation" for dietary restrictions
As inbound demand recovers, food preferences have become more diverse, and consideration for dietary restrictions is no longer considered "special."
However, there are currently no clear standards for "accommodation" in Japan, and the reality is that decisions vary from restaurant to restaurant. Japan lags far behind the rest of the world, particularly when it comes to making food accessible based on religion or beliefs. At the same time, the burden on restaurants cannot be ignored. Meeting the different requests of each customer requires a certain amount of risk and resources, and many restaurants are groping around without a manual. It is unrealistic for all restaurants to achieve "100% accommodation." That is why what is needed now is not unreasonable accommodation, but rather "disclosure of what is possible." By making information transparent, we can create a society where everyone can choose their food with peace of mind. This is our belief and our mission.
